NOT ALL KRAFT POUCHES ARE CREATED EQUAL

A pouch might look natural on the outside, but many conventional kraft-style pouches are actually multi-layer laminates containing different petrochemical-based plastics bonded together to provide barrier, strength and sealing performance.

While these structures can protect products extremely well, the different layers can be difficult to separate and recover through conventional household recycling systems — leaving the packaging with limited options once its job is done.

We wanted to design for what happens next.

Salty Kraft pouches are made using certified AS5810 home-compostable film, providing the functionality of flexible packaging while creating an alternative end-of-life pathway through home composting.

And compostable doesn't have to mean single use. Reuse the pouch where practical, then home compost it at the end of its useful life.
